Christians around the world….
Have you ever noticed how sometimes you go through your day not realising that so much of what you have done that day is a blessing? Take for example the fact that each day we have food to eat and have a roof over our heads, simple things that so often we can take for granted. Yet many people around our world do not have those simple pleasures.
Something else that we can take for granted is the freedom we enjoy in our country. The freedom of being able to go along to GB each week or to Sunday School or Church… Yet for many people around the world they cannot even mention the name God or Jesus in conversation for fear of being beaten or sent to jail. For some they arrive at their church only to find a sign issued by the Government saying that their church can no longer operate. Many of them have to operate in secret and dont have bibles because if they were caught they would most certainly be punished.
The stories these people have to tell are certainly inspiring and their love for God is amazingly infectious. I read the book “The Heavenly Man” in a day because I just couldn’t set it down as I read about a man whose live was dedicated to living for God regardless of the persecution he faced. Compelling reading!
There are many organisations who work to help these people in persecuted countries and their work is wonderful. To learn more visit the youth site of Open Doors (link below) to see how you can help…. Or maybe you are already learning about the persecuted church in GB? If so then let us know what you have learnt so far!

We did Open Door’s Shockwave weekend in our GB last March. We turned off all the lights and sneaked into the room. We had to whisper in case anybody heard us pray! It is really shocking to think that this is how Christians around the world have to meet to worship God. We are so blessed in NI.
