Happy Christmas….
The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
John 1 v 14 (The Message)
I don’t know about you but sometimes I think I can become quite used to hearing some of the same bible stories read time after time that I miss the power of what the stories are actually saying. Ashamedly I can get quite like this about the story of the baby Jesus when I go to countless Carol Service and hear the same readings read time and time again. Sometimes I find it helpful to read passages from another translation and this brings the story to life for me.
I love the above verse taken from the message… How AMAZING that God sent His son into the world as a baby so that we could know something of Him here on earth.
I never usually make new year’s resolutions because I am rubbish at keeping them but my hope and prayer for 2008 will be that God will help me be more like Him in MY neighbourhood and to the people that I encounter day after day… What an incredible world this would be if all of us Christians could come together and follow Jesus’ example in all our relationships.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas with all your nearest and dearest and I trust and pray that 2008 will be a year filled with much joy, peace and God’s abundant blessings.
