Promises….

Has someone ever made you a promise and then broken their promise?  Have you ever made a promise to someone or given them your word, and then perhaps for no malicious reason at all,  have forgotten and you have broken that promise?

As a consequence sometimes I find it difficult to completely grasp the concept that God NEVER breaks His promises. He is incapable of doing so.  I find this incredible.  So when He says He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29 v 11), HE HAS. when He says that He is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3 v 20), HE WILL.  When He says He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13 v 5), HE WONT.

The bible is bursting with these glorious promises from our Heavenly Father and they are ours for the taking should we choose to except His Son as our Saviour, and how Him dying for us on the cross gave us a life that is eternal!!

A wonderful friend of mine Dorothy, has knowledge of the Scriptures that is extraordinary (due to years of devouring God’s word and all He has for her).  I love the way she shares verses with me that I have never read before and then they stick with me and inspire me.  One of these verses is from the Old Testament, in the book of Numbers (Chpt 23 v 19)

“God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind.  Does He speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulful?”

I love this verse as it sums up one of the fascinating characteristics of God,  that He can be relied on 110%.
