Picture the scene …

Picture the scene … a city whose walls have collapsed, fleeing Canaanites and two million Israelites who have taken possession of their Promised Land after spending 7 days marching in silence around Jericho’s walls. What must it have been like to be part of the Israelite nation when they finally entered their new homeland?

Having escaped slavery in Egypt, crossing the Red Sea and wandering for eighty years in the wilderness, these people must at times have doubted if God was going to prove faithful to the promise He made to their forefather Abraham of “a land and nation of your own”. And yet, on the day that Jericho’s walls collapsed, they came to fully understand the miraculous power and unfailing certainty of God’s promises to them.

In the third and final part of our journey with the children of Israel, we will look at how God continues to care for and guide them towards their destiny. Juniors will learn of the many miracles that God performed such as stopping the flow of a mighty river so His people could cross over and collapsing the fortified walls of Jericho so His people could enter.

Seniors and Brigaders will concentrate on the more personal issues that are raised from these passages of scripture such as how to improve your relationship with God and how your attitude can impact those around you.

All ages will finish the course with a personal challenge, based on Joshua’s words to the children of Israel:

“…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve….
As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord”
Joshua 24:15
